Description
Stijn Weski is a 2025 Gerrit Rietveld Academie graduate andwill present his work at the exposition Nature Calls at gallery Chez Freddy.
His series Emulsify Discipline and Freedom blends sculpture, furniture, and nature. A cupboard, a lamp, and a desk-chair emerge from straight-cut wooden planks and a self-developed ‘wood clay’ made from recycled sawdust — materials that carry the scent, warmth, and tactility of the forest.
Merging traditional carpentry with sculptural intuition, Weski creates spaces that breathe with you, balancing the discipline of craft with the freedom of organic form.
Emulsify discipline and freedom is a furniture series that combines materials, aesthetics and function that usually don’t want to mix.
Each piece is designed to create an environment of focus, even in the chaos of a living room. Together, the lamp, the cupboard and
the desk/chair are driven by principals of design for the chaotic mind. With this work, I hope to support people who struggle with
concentration, and to spark a broader conversation about how we can shape our environments to work with us, not against us
