Beschrijving
Annemieke Denters (1989) is a figurative artist based in Amsterdam. Her work explores how memory lives in the body – stored not in words, but in posture, rhythm, and relational silence. She paints what is sensed but rarely spoken: leaning figures, closed eyes, gestures repeated and reassembled. Each composition holds space for what lingers – care, absence, and the quiet resonance between people.
With a background in psychology and mathematical systems, and a period of artistic research at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Denters’ practice bridges structural awareness with emotional tracework. Her use of acrylic on linen reflects this balance – building images through layering, concealment, and return.
Denters’ work has been exhibited in Amsterdam and is held in private collections in Amsterdam, Paris, and New York. She is currently working on a new body of work from her studio in Amsterdam.
