Madelon Uljee is an Amsterdam-based creative & designer whose practice bridges the worlds of art and design. Drawing inspiration from nature, she reimagines and redefines the familiar, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Through her visionary approach, Uljee challenges conventional perceptions, inviting viewers to see the mundane in a new light, where nature meets artistic expression. Her work embodies a playful yet thoughtful dialogue between form, concept, and materiality, sparking curiosity and offering a fresh perspective.
“Drops” captures the ephemeral beauty of nature—those fleeting moments after a rainy day when droplets delicately rest on leaves. As sunlight filters through, these droplets take on a life of their own, refracting an iridescent glow that invites a moment of reflection. The work magnifies this delicate interplay between light and water, inviting the viewer to reimagine the natural world through an artistic lens.
Each piece in the “Drops” series is meticulously crafted using a combination of vegan leather, polyurethane, and steel—materials chosen not just for their structural qualities, but for how they interact with light and texture. The leaf-like forms, varying between 90 and 110 cm, are designed to evoke a sense of organic movement, while the 190 cm stems give the impression of reaching towards the sky, much like real plants after the rain.
Every edition in this series is limited, ensuring that each work remains a rare and intimate exploration of nature’s quiet spectacle. Available in a range of sizes and colors, each piece offers a unique perspective on this transient beauty.
