Renske Herder is an artist (painter), born in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands (1986). She received her master’s degree in Industrial Design Engineering and honered her skills working in the field of surface design and product styling. She also worked as a pottery painter in the traditional majolica technique (Delfts Blauw).
Renske lived on the Caribbean island Bonaire from 2012-2013 and 2021-2024 together with her husband and 2 children. Renske is currently living and working in Akkrum, The Netherlands.
Renske Herder’s practice centers around vibrant, figurative paintings that celebrate moments of quiet connection, daily rituals, and a slow and peaceful way of living. Her compositions balance narrative and abstraction, with whimsical details like a flying bird or patterned quilt, evoking folk art traditions through a contemporary lens.
Her work has now found a place in private collections worldwide, from the US and Canada to the United Arab Emirates.
